Summer & Winter Book Club (Ages 3–5)

Our Summer and Winter Book Clubs are gentle, seasonal 8-week programs (Wednesdays) designed to nurture a deep love of stories, language, and thoughtful discussion through a Montessori-informed approach. Offered during July–August and January–February, Book Club takes place after school hours and includes parent participation, helping to strengthen the connection between home, school, and our classroom community.

Each session focuses on a carefully chosen chapter book with rich language, meaningful themes, and age-appropriate storytelling. Parents are invited to read one chapter per week at home, allowing the story to unfold slowly and intentionally. This slower pace gives children time to absorb, reflect, and return to the classroom ready for deeper discussion and related activities, supporting comprehension, memory, and meaningful engagement.

At each session, children extend the story through Montessori-based activities such as guided discussion circles, sequencing and storytelling work, vocabulary exploration, practical life extensions, art, gentle movement, and other activities inspired by the book’s themes. These hands-on, purposeful experiences help children connect deeply with the story while building independence, focus, and confidence in a calm, meaningful way.

The small-group setting fosters respectful listening, empathy, and collaboration, while supporting language development and a lifelong love of reading — all grounded in Montessori principles of observation, autonomy, and intrinsic motivation.

Book Club is a wonderful way for children to engage with stories, explore ideas, and share meaningful experiences with their peers — all while being supported by parents and teachers who encourage curiosity, reflection, and joy in learning.
